“A sweeping story about the Middle East …”
A sweeping story about the Middle East that is very realistic. While this story does not predict the current events, you can't help but be swept up in the story. Who is going to win? Or maybe a better question, who loses?

“Anyone who enjoyed thrilling tales of “Indiana Jones” will enjoy this book…”
The BYSTANDER is an adventure set in the Arabian deserts. The story has an authentic feel, perhaps because the author worked for many years in various assignments in the Middle East. Anyone who enjoyed thrilling tales of "Indiana Jones" will enjoy this book. I did.

“An outstanding novel vividly explaining the life style, customs, and politics…”
An outstanding novel vividly explaining the life style, customs, and politics of the people who reside in Saudi Arabia. This was particularly enlightening for me as my knowledge of this country is limited. The description of the terrain and the weather patterns made it clear how difficult it is to navigate in this country. The Black Princes and the bombing of the hotel were germane to the story. There were several adventures taken by the archeologists which explained some of the more important historical events. It is apparent that the author has lived in Saudi Arabia, from the detail, she brings to the story. I am recommending this book to my book club. I am sure they will enjoy it as much as I did."

“Walk in the culture of Saudi Arabia…”
"Walk in the culture of Saudi Arabia, experience the dessert, understand how today was formed by its history. For me, reading this book was an amazingly awakening experience of Saudi Arabia.....AND, in contrast, of my life! Read this book and see today in a different, informed context."
